I learned the art of stained glass from our grandmother, Ruth, who dedicated over 30 years to this intricate craft. Remarkably, she also taught my husband long before we met, and the three of us had the opportunity to collaborate on creating a Hamsa and other pieces during a very special time in our lives. Crafting the Hamsa solidified my lifelong love for collaboration and deepened my appreciation for stained glass. I always felt that stained glass would be part of my journey, though I didn't know when.
It feels incredibly special and meaningful to have learned this craft from one of my grandmothers. The transmission of knowledge from one generation to the next is invaluable. Everything I've learned about stained glass and mosaics, and anything important over the past decade has been imparted by my elder mentors, for whom I am profoundly grateful. Their guidance has been life-changing, and I hope their influence is evident in my work for years to come as I strive to integrate their teachings into my own work
One of life's greatest lessons for me has been learning how to consciously apply all this knowledge to my own life and artistic practice. From working as an artist assistant to an internationally recognized, award-winning mosaic and ceramic artist, to absorbing the wisdom of my grandmothers—one of whom crafted stained glass for over 30 years—I've been fortunate to learn from some incredible teachers. I aim to honor them with each new project I undertake, acknowledging that I stand on the shoulders of giants. My hope is that all I create will be in service of the greater good.
